Cabinet of Wonders

"The only thing that should surprise us is that

there are still some things that can surprise us."

-- Francois De La Rochfoucauld

During the Renaissance, inquisitive scholars and mad scientists amassed remarkable collections of objects whose categorical boundaries were yet to be defined.

Imagine, if you will, a small, contained freak show of "mermaid" corpses, insect wings, fossils, relics from obscure saints, ancient coins from sunken ships, and other strange souvenirs -- a unique and highly personal museum.

The "Kunstkammer" (or wonder cabinet) was once regarded as a microcosm or theater of the world. It reflected the broad -- and sometimes bizarre -- interests of its dedicated curator.

It is in this spirit that I present this Web site. Enjoy my collection.
